A location not often photographed is the approach to Quainton Road from the north, mainly due to the complete lack of southbound daytime workings. The closure of the Bedford-Bletchley line for re-signalling has meant that the Kings Cross-Forders spoil and return etys have temporarily been diverted to Calvert instead, thus creating this photo oportunity. Here, Motherwell outbased RETB fitted example, 66111 complete with Highland Stag bodyside sticker is seen approaching Quainton Road on 11/08/2004 with 6E34 1354 Calvert-Kings Cross spoil etys.
66019 draws under the gantry at Calvert on 11/08/2004 with 6M35 0240 Kings Cross-Calvert conveying spoil from the CTRL at Kings Cross/St Pancras. Calvert was very busy at the time with two spoil trains a day from Kings Cross and binliners from Bristol, Dagenham & Northolt.
